The wind has been blowing for a week from the east and today was no exception. Matt and his family decided to fish the Intercoastal with me and we had a very pleasant morning. Dan hooked up with a Goliath Grouper and it was a stalemate after twenty minutes when the fish got back into some structure and the 100 pound line chaffed thru. He had the largest and the smallest fish ! Lauren was high hook with mangrove snappers and blue runners. everybody had a very nice time and we didn't have to fight the wind and waves.

Hi, I'm&nbsp;Captain Rich Adler,&nbsp;and I have been fishing for over 46 years. It has been my whole life. My passion for fishing started when my father first took me out when I was four years old. I couldn’t remember what we caught that time, but I still remember the feeling of curiosity, thrill, and excitement. Since then, I got the salt-water disease.&nbsp;. When I turned seven, my father and I caught an 8-pound largemouth bass. As it emerged to the surface, I saw its huge bucket mouth and told my Dad that it was a monster. Many thought that it was just a phase, and they never knew that it would turn out to be my lifelong passion. Well, who can say, I just fell in love with fishing the first time I experienced it.&nbsp;I now have my Charter Boat-&nbsp;Tuna Wahoo, and I offer a full-service Florida charter fishing operation, taking families, friends, and kids fishing. I do this not just for a living but because I am happy to see them smile and get excited when they catch a fish. My Boat Details: Operating my Charter Boat is all I do 24/7, every single day. From October to July, I run my charter boat in Palm Beach, Florida. For the rest of the year, I run charter and party boats in Belmar and Point Pleasant, New Jersey. To pass the time, I fish both inshore and offshore, and my favorite catches are fluke, sea bass, bluefish, tuna, and mahi.&nbsp; &nbsp;My Specialty Techniques and Fishing Favorites: Drift Fishing:In Palm Beach I love drift fishing. We start off in the gulf stream, start out south to north, and use a kite with a couple live baits hooked up. I'll put out some flat lines for our guests to watch. We use live bait for Sailfish, Mackerel, Mahi, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and occasionally Cobia.Our midwater baits (live or dead sardines) are for the same fish species,and I put down some bottom fishing rods with cut bait for mutton snappers, yellowtail snappers, porgies, triggerfish, all the reef fish.We are covering the entire water column, our guests are actively involved with all of these, so there's always something biting. It's a really exciting time on the water. We are always going to catch fish on these adventures. Maybe you wonder if I ever get fed up from doing this my whole life. Fishing for 24 hours a day for over 46 years- who’s crazy enough to do that, right? But, let me share with you the things that make me keep going: excitement and passion.&nbsp; I wake up every day, board my boat, and sail to the sea, and what fuels me to do that my whole life is that I never know who is going to show up at the dock. I never know what surprises we are going to catch each trip. Every day is a new experience. That’s what makes it so much fun and exciting. <h1>No Bananas On A Boat - Here's Why</h1> Many anglers believe that bananas on your fishing charter boat are bad luck, but don't know how this superstition started. There are in-fact, two reasons for this superstition.When the Latin America fruit trade&nbsp;developed and bananas became popular in the United States&nbsp;and Europe, they were shipped up whole, with all of the hands on the stalk. Of course, since they were fresh off of the fruit plantations, the stalks also carried spiders and snakes. Sailors would get bitten during transit, and therefore bananas were bad luck on board all boats!&nbsp;The second reason for this superstition was that the fruit carriers were always the oldest ships in the shipping fleet. If one sank, (and they did) either because of storms or mechanical failure, the stalks would float to the surface. The next vessel to follow that route would find floating bananas far out at sea and&nbsp;that would only confirm what the sailors felt at the time, that bananas were bad luck!&nbsp;&nbsp;My personal experience&nbsp;with Tuna Wahoo during all my years as a fishing charter captain has produced one anecdote. We were fishing early&nbsp;in my charter&nbsp;career, and&nbsp;the whole charter&nbsp;fleet was anchored up in a small area. The bite was terrible, the charter guests were bored, and&nbsp;the head of the charter stepped out of my cabin holding a couple of bananas. Of course now I had an excuse as to why the fishing was so bad so I explained to him the&nbsp;effect bananas had on sailors. I suggested to him that all would be right in the world if he took the bananas and threw them at the boat anchored next to us (a buddy of mine was running that boat!). Apparently this gentleman had spent more time behind books than on the ball field, because when he wound up and threw the bananas they sailed high up in the air but landed in&nbsp;the water right next to my boat. However, the cell phone in his pocket sailed about 15 feet before it hit the water. I turned to him with a straight face and said, “see, I told&nbsp;you bananas were bad luck!”&nbsp;My mate grabbed the bananas bobbing next to my boat and lobbed them over to my next door neighbor, he repeated&nbsp;the act to another boat. A little while later, the bite turned on, (the tide started moving) and all was right with the world. I still eat bananas, just not on the boat .To this day, we support, no bananas on a boat rule for all our Palm beach fishing charter escapades! We are ready to catch some fish out here on Tuna Wahoo, no excuses to make ti worse! Although, I won't kick you off the fishing boat if a banana just so happens to make its way into your snack bag, but you may have to eat it before we launch ;).
