Get ready to make some serious waves with Tuna Wahoo Charters' family-friendly fishing trip right off Palm Beach. This 4-hour jaunt is perfect for newbies and seasoned anglers alike. We're talking prime fishing grounds where you can test your skills against some of Florida's most sought-after gamefish. From the thrill of hooking a sailfish to the delicious potential of landing a mahi-mahi, this trip packs a punch that'll have the whole family hooked.
Picture this: You're cruising out of Palm Beach, the sun's warming up, and the anticipation's building. Captain Rich knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he's itching to put you on the fish. Whether you're a total greenhorn or you've been around the block, we've got you covered. We'll mix it up with drift fishing, kite fishing, and bottom fishing – whatever it takes to fill the cooler. You might be reeling in a hard-fighting wahoo one minute and battling a bull shark the next. And don't worry about licenses; we've got that sorted. Just bring some cash for live bait and to tip the mate – trust me, after seeing how hard these guys work, you'll want to.
Let's break down what you're in for. Drift fishing? That's where we let the current do the work, dragging our baits past hungry fish. Kite fishing? Now that's a show. We'll send kites up with live baits dangling – it's like ringing the dinner bell for sailfish and mahi. And when we drop lines to the bottom, we're talking grouper and snapper territory. Captain Rich and his crew will walk you through each technique, so you'll be fishing like a pro in no time. The best part? You're not just fishing; you're getting a master class in Palm Beach angling. Bring your own grub and drinks if you want, 'cause nothing beats a cold one while you're waiting for that big hit.
"Captain Rich was great. Took my two young boys and Rich/Paul were really welcoming of them and accommodating. Great experience and definitely recommend. We'll be back!" - Patrick
"I had an amazing time yesterday on my trip. It was my first time fishing off shore fishing in the Atlantic, and I am so glad that I chose Tuna Wahoo Fishing Charters. Meeting up with Captain Rich Adler and first mate Paul was like meeting up with friends you haven't seen in a while. The fishing was amazing and the conversation and Information I learned about the fishing there was great as well. I will definitely book another trip with them the next time I am in West Palm Beach" - Richard
"This was not our first rodeo with Rich & it certainly won't be our last. From land to sea to land, we were taken care of to the umpteenth degree. Even in midday, we got put on fish. Now, THAT'S a legit guide." - David
Mahi Mahi, or as the locals call 'em, dorado, are the rockstars of our waters. These acrobatic fish put on a show when hooked, leaping and thrashing with their vibrant blue and gold colors flashing. They're fast growers and can hit 30 pounds in their first year. Spring through fall is prime time for mahi, and let me tell you, there's nothing like fresh mahi tacos after a day on the water.
Wahoo are the speedsters of the sea. These streamlined torpedoes can hit speeds up to 60 mph, making for some of the most exciting strikes you'll ever experience. They're known for their blistering runs and tooth-studded jaws that'll slice through wire leader if you're not careful. Winter and early spring are your best bet for tangling with these bad boys.
Cobia might not be the prettiest fish in the sea, but they're fighters through and through. These brown battlers often hang around structures like buoys or even sharks, so keep your eyes peeled. They're curious creatures and might swim right up to the boat. Spring and fall migrations are when you want to target these tasty bruisers.
Bull sharks are the heavyweights of our near-shore waters. These powerful predators can grow over 11 feet long and put up a fight that'll test your stamina and your gear. They're here year-round, but summer's when they're most active. Catching and releasing these giants is a rush you won't forget.
Atlantic Sailfish are the crown jewels of sportfishing. With their distinctive sail-like dorsal fin and incredible acrobatics, hooking one of these beauties is the highlight of many anglers' lives. They're fastest in the world, clocking speeds up to 68 mph. Winter and early spring are your best shot at these bucket-list billfish, but they can surprise you any time of year.
Listen, whether you're looking to make memories with the kids, impress your buddies, or just escape the grind for a few hours, this Palm Beach fishing trip is your ticket. Captain Rich and his crew at Tuna Wahoo Charters have the know-how to put you on fish and the patience to make sure everyone has a blast. From the moment you step on board to the fish tales you'll be telling for years, this is the real deal. So what are you waiting for? Rich was a great Charter option and helped some inexperienced fishermen have a wonderful day on the water! Caught more fish than any other boat that went out that day!

Good experience with the captain and mate. Fish weren’t cooperating, but that’s not the captains fault as they tried a number of techniques. We ended up catching a few bottom fish at the end and a decent size shark. I would fish with them again.

Captain Rich is a very skilled captain and takes care of everyone on board. My son fulfilled his dream on our trip catching his first and second Mahi. We also caught a couple nice bonita. Captain Rich celebrates your victories with you and works hard to catch fish!

This was our second trip with Captain Rich. He is a lot of fun to fish with. His deck hand Chad and him work very well together. We will be booking a 3rd trip with him on our next time do the area. Great location, quick to get out on the water.

Captain Rich and Paulie did a fantastic job! I highly recommend using their services. We were even able to catch a 6-7 foot sailfish. It was a great adventure and I'll definitely book them again next time I'm in the area!

Sailfish are the showstoppers of Palm Beach fishing. They average 6-8 feet long and 40-60 pounds. You'll find them in blue water, often near the surface down to about 60 feet. Winter's the prime time here, especially December through March. Anglers love sailfish for their acrobatic jumps and that distinctive sail. They're catch-and-release only, but the photos are priceless. We'll troll with ballyhoo or live bait, or kite fish if conditions are right. When a sail hits, it's all action - they'll greyhound across the surface and make blistering runs. Light tackle makes the fight even more exciting. Here's a tip: if you see them finning on the surface, cast a live bait just beyond them and slowly reel it back. The strike is often spectacular. Sailfish are a bucket list fish for many, and once you hook one, you'll see why.

Bull sharks are one tough customer - stocky, aggressive, and found in both salt and freshwater. They average 8-10 feet and 200-300 pounds. You'll find them in shallow coastal waters, even up rivers. Here in Palm Beach, they're around year-round but more common in warmer months. Anglers target them for the pure thrill and challenge. These sharks fight hard and don't give up easy. We'll use heavy tackle and wire leaders - their teeth make short work of anything else. Fresh cut bait like mackerel or mullet works well. Chum helps bring them in close. When you hook one, be ready for a long, powerful fight. Safety first - we release all sharks boat-side. If you want a real secret weapon for bull sharks, try using a fresh eel as bait. The high oil content drives them crazy. Just remember, these aren't beginner's fish - respect the bull shark and you'll have an unforgettable battle.

Cobia are tough fighters that'll test your gear and your arms. They average 30-50 pounds but can top 100. Look for them around structures like reefs, wrecks, and buoys in 30-70 feet of water. Spring is prime time as they migrate up the coast. Cobia are curious fish - they'll often follow boats or even sharks. That makes sight fishing a blast. We'll use bucktail jigs, live eels, or crabs as bait. When you hook one, be ready for a bulldog fight. They don't make long runs, but they're stubborn and strong. Cobia meat is excellent - firm, white fillets that are great on the grill. Here's a local trick: if you spot one, don't cast right at it. Land your bait a few feet away and let the cobia's curiosity do the work. They're not the prettiest fish, but they're a favorite for both the fight and the dinner table.

Mahi Mahi are a favorite target here in Palm Beach, averaging 15-30 pounds but can get up to 60. You'll find them near the surface around floating debris and weed lines, often in 100-400 feet of water. They're most abundant from July through November. Anglers love Mahi for their acrobatic fights and beautiful colors - they put on quite a show when hooked. The meat is excellent too, with a mild, sweet flavor. To up your chances, look for frigate birds diving - that's often a sign Mahi are feeding below. We'll troll with ballyhoo or squid, or cast jigs if we spot them. Pro tip: once you hook one, keep it in the water. Mahi travel in groups, so leaving it there can attract others and lead to multiple hookups. It's an exciting fish that often makes for great photos and even better dinners.

Wahoo are one of the fastest fish in the ocean, hitting speeds up to 60 mph. They average 3-5 feet long but can reach 8 feet and 100+ pounds. You'll find them in open water, often near drop-offs or underwater structures. Here in Palm Beach, we target them year-round, but fishing really heats up July through November. Anglers love Wahoo for their blistering runs and delicious white meat. To catch 'em, we'll usually troll at high speeds, around 12-15 knots, using wire leaders since their teeth are razor sharp. Lures that mimic flying fish or small tuna work well. My go-to setup is a double-hooked ballyhoo with a colored skirt. If you hook one, hang on tight - that first run is something else! Remember, once you get it to the boat, be careful handling it. Those teeth are no joke.
